We are excited to present the SWIB 2022 Conference - Macro Forces and Micro Actions: Expanding the Definition of Success. This year’s conference explores the modern definition of “success” and how it impacts the way women live. Cynthia Sakai, founder of Vita Fede and Evolvetogether, will kickoff the conference as this year’s keynote speaker. Our first panel, “Business, Society, and Self” will feature a discussion on the forces at play that directly impact our ability to succeed as women while our second panel, “What does it mean to ‘Have it All’” dives into the way our speakers have taken action to curate their paths to personal success.

Stern alumni, students from other business schools, other NYU students, and members of the community at large are all invited! Allies are also highly encouraged to attend.

Panel Discussion: Business, Society, Self: Discovering your equation for success

In today’s world, women feel pressure to achieve success on their own, however in reality it takes collective action. As part of this year’s Stern Women in Business Conference, we will explore the macro factors that directly or indirectly impact our ability to succeed. From business initiatives to governmental policies to family and social support, this conversation will seek to unearth insights and areas for innovation. We hope that by delving deeper into the complexities of our modern definition of success, we alleviate some of the pressure and burden women feel in their pursuit of achievement.

Panelists: Pooja Bavishi - Founder and CEO Malai Ice Cream and Kit Krugman - MD, Organization + Culture, co:collective

Moderator: Maria Patterson, Clinical Associate Professor of Business, NYU Stern School of Business

2:20-3:20 PM

Panel Discussion: What does it mean to “Have it all?”

In an increasingly interconnected world where remote work and social media dominate brain market share, it has become difficult to separate our personal and professional lives. Research shows that women are more likely to feel pressure to constantly say “Yes” to every request, assignment, and opportunity that comes our way, especially in relation to serving the needs of others. Through this panel discussion we will explore how regaining a sense of autonomy means saying “No,” and prioritizing our needs.

Panelists: Alisa Vitti - Founder, FLO Living and Rha Goddess - Founder, Move the Crowd

Moderator: Jessy Hsieh
